PUBLIC SPEAKING TIPS

Before I start, just want to make things clear....I'M NOT A VERY GOOD SPEAKER!!! I am just a normal average person with the intentions of helping out a friend of mine who is going to give a public speech. Supposedly, she had to do it yesterday but something happened and it was cancelled. However, YOU are still going to do it!! *yes I'm talking to you AFA..;P*

So of course the very basic thing that you need to do is to find a topic for your speech. But how do you find one that is interesting and suits you? Well, it's not that hard as you think. Find a topic that is near and dear to you. For example if you are a student maybe you can speak about how to manage your time wisely, how to communicate well with others or if you feel like to be more daring, you can try out to speak something about love life, marriage, sexual abuse...and others. But just stick with something that is simple and easy to be understood.

Once you have decided on a topic, you can now move on to find points for your speech relating to the topic that you have just chosen. Obviously, the easiest and the fastest way to gain some factual data is through the internet and books. After you have gain enough points and facts, now it's time to do the speech draft. I know that most of us like to copy directly, words by words from the internet, right? Well, I do it too!!! Sometimes....but then after a while, I found it hard to memorize the wordings because they are TOO BOMBASTIC AND TO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!!! Waaa~~~ The best way to actually remember the points are by learning them from your heart. ^^

Huh, learning them from the heart?? What is that? Emm...to put it simply, try to write the speech using your own words. Just rephrase the words that you got from the internet or books or other sources and make it your own. Put in some of your personalities in the speech or maybe put in some jokes so that people will not get tired on hearing you talking. This is a very good tip for someone that has a monotone voice. Besides, if you do this, not only you will not be having problems to remember your text, you will also find some joy and happiness remembering them. Isn't that cool? And just use simple English. It's enough....by the way, always remember that you are doing this is because you want to get your message through the audience and at the same time, to have fun!!

Once you have done, now you are ready to speak in front of a hundred thousands of people!! YEAY

Now, it would be a total lie if I say, you will not have jitters and butterflies in your stomach right before you are about to do your speech. For a first timer, you will be really nervous...up until your nervousness can be felt by others that are sitting next to you or around you. I've experienced that before...it was really weird because I'm not the only one who felt the nerve, others felt it too and the worst part of all, I'm not the one who is doing the speech!! hahahha weird....

It is actually good to be nervous because if you are nervous, you will try to do your very best so that you won't make a fool out of yourself. But it is not good to be too nervous because you might faint or worst pee in your pants (ewww) and it is not good to not be nervous (means you are a robot). Just be cool, calm and collective. I know I know...it is way easy talking than doing it..but what I'm saying is quite true.

When something unexpected happened, do not freak out. Worst case scenario would be if you blank out completely. So, this would be the part where your "own words written speech" comes in handy. :P TADAA...whatever going to happen, if you learn your speech from your heart and you use your own words to fit your style, then even the earthquake wouldn't shake your nerve!! LOL

MY ADVICE TO THE REST OF YOU WHO IS GOING TO DO A PUBLIC SPEAKING, JUST ENJOY THE EVERY TINY BITS WHEN YOU ARE DOING IT. SIMPLY BECAUSE THIS WOULD JUST BE ANOTHER MEMORABLE AND UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE. OTHERS MAY NOT REMEMBER IT BUT YOU WILL DEFINITELY WILL...

ANOTHER CHAPTER IS CLOSED
